Math
In Math the students have been measuring and comparing the different sizes of insects both real and using model bugs. (Ensuring that the real insects and creatures like worms and slugs are returned safely to their environment.)

Looking closely they have noted that most insects have 2 antennas and 6 legs and spiders have 8 legs.
The students have enjoyed using math games to look at number representation in different forms.  For example counting lady bug dots.

The students have been provided with practical hands-on activities that are enabling them to think in a mathematical way.  For example measuring insects using standard (tape measure and rulers) and non standard(fingers and cubes) methods.
Matching quantities using symbols is one of the many ways students engage with number concepts.
Counting and sorting by colour and size.
