The book 'Not A Box' by Antoinette Portis was a very important element of the Creativity unit as it was the starting point for the group projects and also the inspiration for the Kinder class book 'This Is Not a scarf'.
Language and Communication skills were greatly visible throughout the unit. As the students worked on their creations they have used both oral and literacy skills to plan, develop and execute their work. Within the groups and together with their teachers they discussed ideas and negotiated the different phases of their models.
By exploring and describing their own work and the work of others they have been developing their understanding of the 'big idea' of appreciation.
The children have been busy writing tickets and posters for their forthcoming Kinder Museum.
