Unit of
Inquiry
In
the past few weeks we started to work on our Friendship unit. We began by asking
the children what they believed should be our classroom essential agreements
and what they thought was important for them to learn, play and be safe in
their classroom and school environment. The answers we received were funny,
charismatic and very sensible. They all agreed that they should be respectful
towards teachers and their friends, they should finish their lunch and clean up
after themselves. Most of all we realised
We also started to discuss their sense of well-being. Discussions about feelings and creative activities allowed children to express their own point of view. In our focus groups they talked about spending time with others, sharing with friends, playing, and we were happy to see that many students had very positive perspectives. They also discussed places, people and things that made them feel “good” like when they are with their parents, at home, and even at school. They painted beautiful pictures and dressed-up to play the part of their “silly” selves.
