Unit of Inquiry

Over the past few weeks we have continued to work on our ‘Friendships’ Unit.  The children have been working on deepening their understanding of their own well-being and the well-being of others.  We read the book ‘Elmer’ by David McKee and discussed how sometimes we want to be like our friends and at other times it is also ok to be different.
We then moved onto the idea of ‘interaction’ and what this means to the children.  During the lesson the students shared their thoughts and ideas:
Interaction means; Being kind
                                    Talking
                                     Saying hello
                                     Being together
                                     Having snack together
                                     Sharing
Saying “Can you play with me?”

The children enjoyed sharing their thoughts and ideas as they worked in pairs and small groups and concluded by ‘acting’ out these ideas to the class audience.
