Math
As an introduction to data handling in math we completed our first ‘Pictograph’.  In order to maintain a connection to our Unit we chose to illustrate the children’s’ feelings on a typical day.  The children drew their face and then placed it in the pocket that best described their feelings.  They then went on to counting and comparing the columns and we are glad to say that ‘Happy’ was always top.
We have also been busy working on the number 2. The children have been using play dough with number stamps and number mats to demonstrate their learning and understanding as well as using the white boards for writing practice.
Through fun, games and observations the children have begun to understand that a pair is made up of two objects.
Some of their observations include; “We have two eyes”
“There are two windows in our classroom”
                                                                      “We have two teachers”
“We have two arms and two legs”

As we worked through the many activities the children have been making their very first steps in making number sense.
